In 2024 alone, the event raised an incredible $20,000, and with your participation, 2025 can be an even bigger success. It’s a chance to make a real impact while having the time of your life!
Chris Hall's Half K is not your typical charity event – it started as a playful response to what felt like the never-ending 5Ks happening in the area.
This hilarious, lighthearted alternative covers only 0.31 miles (1640 feet), encouraging participants to embrace the fun, not the fitness.
With donuts, beer or mimosas, live music, and an energetic decathlon featuring fun activity stations, it’s an unforgettable day of laughter and celebration. Plus, every participant gets a 1st place medal and a .31 oval sticker to proudly show off their "achievement."
Chris Hall, a proud Redding native, is the creative mind behind the world’s most entertaining 0.31-mile event –
Chris Hall’s Half K.
Known for his innovative spirit and deep community commitment, Chris has always thought outside the box, from his days at Shasta High School to graduating Magna Cum Laude at Azusa Pacific University.
He envisioned the Half K as a way to make a difference while having fun, and the event has quickly become a cherished tradition in Redding, combining donuts, beer, and laughter with a mission to support local children in need.
At Redding Sundial Kiwanis, we’re dedicated to supporting the well-being and future of children in our community. Through our Food For Kids Program, we ensure that local kids who face food insecurity have access to nutritious meals, even when school isn’t in session.
Every dollar raised through events like Chris Hall’s Half K goes directly toward this mission, helping us provide food-filled backpacks to children who need it most. Your contributions don’t just feed kids – they fuel their potential, giving them the energy and confidence to thrive.
Together, with the support of generous donors and community partners, we’re making sure no child in Redding goes hungry.
